What You’ll Receive
Star Rating
An official star rating from 0-3. A 1 star being a book we recommend reading, a 2 star a book that rises above other indie books, and a 3 star is a masterwork. A potential 4th star does exist for a book that scores perfectly on every category but whether this is even possible to achieve remains currently unknown.
Full Evaluation
All books will receive detailed, professional feedback on what went well and what needs improving in all seven categories. This can be used to develop your craft. Each category will also be marked out of 5 so you can see your strengths and weaknesses.
Marketability
Regardless of whether a star was rewarded or not, every book will receive a marketable tagline for advertising purposes as well as a summary paragraph, almost like a review for readers which can be used on your website or advertisement purposes
Opportunities for Listing
f your book receives 1 or more stars you’ll be featured on our catalogue forever at no further cost for readers to explore. There’s also opportunities for featured home page listing and newsletter promotion at a later date, both free and paid.
Why Is This A Paid Service?
At The Story Star Standard, we’re committed to keeping prices as affordable as possible to indie authors. The cost reflects the amount of hours it takes to review your books and vetting require to keep story stars at a professional and fair standard.
Reviewing books accurately and carefully takes a large amount of hours and it’s important to us that we pay our reviewers a fair price for the hours they’re putting into their work. Our reviewers are all professionals in the book sphere.
Our prices aim to be cheaper than other professional book review services whilst also offering more for your money (such as in-depth feedback and stars that put authors on a permanent book catalogue instead of just a short review)
Currently, our prices are far cheaper to reflect the launch of our service, we hope to in the future once our prices are no longer discounted, to offer competitions to review a selection of books for low or no cost.
IMPORTANTLY, each book is judged fairly and by our criteria, payment does not mean a good score.

Books we Don’t Accept
1. A.I. Generated Books (Books written with LLM tools such as Chatgpt or Sudowrite)
2. Plagiarised Books (Books must all be original work)
3. Books that promote Hateful Content (We do not accept books that promote racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or any form of hate speech)
4. Non-Fiction, Children’s Books, and Poetry (Due to a lack of expertise in these areas)
Please contact us if you are unsure or have any questions on if your book includes content from this list as refunds might not be able to be granted if a reviewer has spent a considerable amount of time on your book.
