Every book receives an official Story Star rating from 0-4 stars:
Full Evaluation
Every submission receive detailed and professional feedback across our seven key categories, which outline what works well and what could be improved. Each category is scored out of 5 to give you a clear sense of your strengths and what needs more development.
Marketability
Regardless of your star rating, every book receives a marketable tagline for advertising purposes as well as a summary paragraph written for potential readers. These can be used on your website, social media, or any marketing materials you desire.
Opportunities for Listing
All books awarded one or more stars are permanently featured in our Story Star Catalogue for no additional cost. This is a lasting showcase which allow readers to discover your work on our website. At a later date, there will be opportunities for homepage features and newsletter highlights, both free and paid.
Why Is This A Paid Service?
At The Story Star Standard, we’re committed to keeping prices as affordable as possible for indie authors while paying our reviewers fairly for their time and experience. The fee reflects the amount of hours it takes to thoroughly review each book and the vetting require to ensure every Story Star is held to a consistent, professional standard.
Reviewing books accurately and carefully takes a lot of time and experience. Our reviewers are all professionals in the writing sphere. So it’s important to us that we pay our reviewers a fair price.
Our prices aim to be lower than other professional review services whilst also offering more for your money (such as in-depth, actionable feedback and lasting visibility through our Story Star Catalogue, instead of just a short review)
Currently, our prices are significantly discounted to reflect the launch of our service. In the future, after the sale ends, we also plan to run competitions and opportunities for a selection of authors to have their books reviewed at a reduced cost.
IMPORTANTLY, every book is assessed independently and fairly according to our criteria,. Payment does not guarantee a positive rating or the award of any Story Stars.
Books we Don’t Accept
1. A.I. Generated Books (Submissions written with LLM tools such as Chatgpt or Sudowrite)
2. Plagiarised Books (Submissions must all be original work)
3. Books that promote Hateful Content (We do not accept submissions that promote racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or any form of hate speech)
4. Non-Fiction, Children’s Books, Erotica, and Poetry (Due to a lack of expertise/lack of suitability of our Star System in these areas)
Please contact us if you are unsure if your book includes content from this list as refunds might not be able to be granted if a reviewer has already spent a considerable amount of time reviewing your book.
